Waterbury Firefighters’ Association
2017 Public Safety Scholarship Eligibility

The Waterbury Firefighters’ Association started a scholarship program in 2001.  This scholarship receives the majority of its funding through an annual public safety softball tournament. The amount and number of scholarships issued varies from year to year based on the amount of money raised and quality of applicants.
This scholarship is now for any graduating senior who is a member for at least one year or whose parent is currently member/working, either career or volunteer, for a public safety agency (law enforcement, fire, corrections or EMS) for at least 5 years. This is a second semester scholarship. Applications must be received by September 1, 2017. The recipient(s) will be announced at our annual tournament. The recipient must show at the end of the first semester a passing transcript as well as verification of enrollment for the spring semester in order to receive their funds.
The scholarship committee will verify parent’s employment with the listed public safety agency.
The recipient(s) will be chosen by a committee of public safety employees, all names within the application will be blacked out for an unbiased process. The recipient(s) will be picked based on community involvement, extra-curricular activities and the content of their essay.
