Waterbury Fire Department

Chief Donald L. LaRock

It is with great sadness that the members of the Waterbury Village and Waterbury Town Fire Departments acknowledge the passing of Donald L. LaRock. Chief, as he was affectionatle called, was a long time member of the Waterbury Village Fire dept before stepping down due to health reasons. Don joined the department on 4 April 1967 and has held many positions on the department including chief for many years. Don considered the fire department his family, so much so that his two sons both joined the department (Mike also became Chief on the dept), and one of his grandsons is also a member. Two other grandsons are cadets on the department. In October, 2003 the department recognised the outstanding commitment that Don dedicated to the service of the community and dedicated the tower truck in his name.

Chief Don was also respected by other area departments as a knowledgeable and competent leader who always remained calm.

After Don stepped down from being active on the dept he still attended dept functions and was always willing to talk to anybody about how their families were.

Don will be sorely missed by the departments and the community. Our best wishes go out to family.
